Extranym Defined

A few years back, a couple of GitHub guys realized there exists a phrase ambiguity with no name and Merriam-Webster won’t return our calls.

Here’s the canonical example:

“This soup is hot.”

Even with all of the context in the world, you cannot reasonably discern if the word hot in that sentence means temperature hot or spicy hot. From this, the word extranym was born. Is there already some term that covers this situation? Probably, but we haven’t found a solid answer either way.
